Knee Pain & Injury

Is knee pain from trauma, chronic conditions or simple wear-and-tear keeping you from your work, your favorite activities or just getting out of bed in the morning without hurting?

We can help.

Our orthopedic experts will pinpoint the root cause of your knee pain, and then work with you to create an individualized treatment plan based on your diagnosis and your goals. Maybe your goal is to return to your favorite sport, play with your grandkids or just sleep better at night without pain.

We'll start you off with a program of conservative therapy options designed to meet your goals.

Should surgery be necessary, our surgeons are pioneers in minimally invasive and computer-navigated procedures for both knee repair and knee replacement.

Diagnosing Your Knee Pain or Injury

The key is getting the right diagnosis so we can treat the root cause of your pain. It's not unusual for knee pain to be caused by issues with the hip or back, and those issues will need to be treated in order to resolve your knee pain.

Our experts will use the latest diagnostic tools to pinpoint the root cause of your pain, and then design an effective treatment program.

Some common causes of knee pain include:

  • Strain or sprain – Minor injuries to the ligaments caused by sudden or unnatural twisting
  • Dislocation of the kneecap – Initial and recurrent patellar instability
  • Bursitis – Inflammation from repeated pressure on the knee, such as kneeling for a long time, overuse, or injury
  • Fracture of the kneecap or other bones
  • Iliotibial band syndrome – Injury to the thick band that runs from your hip to the outside of your knee
  • Patellofemoral syndrome – Pain in the front of your knee around the kneecap
  • Torn ligament – An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, or medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury may cause bleeding into your knee, swelling, or an unstable knee
  • Torn cartilage (a meniscus tear) – Pain felt on the inside or outside of the knee joint
