Cervical Decompression

Decompression procedures are used to treat spinal stenosis.

A small incision is made in the neck during cervical decompression surgery.

The muscles and tissues are then moved aside versus traditional surgery where they are cut and torn, reducing recovery time.

There are a variety of cervical decompression procedures including:

• Laminoplasty
• Cervical Foraminotomy
• Posterior Cervical Laminectomy

Cervical Spinal Fusion

This procedure fuses together two or more vertebrae using a bone graft.

At EvergreenHealth, we offer the following types of cervical spinal fusion:

• Anterior cervical disectomy and fusion (ACDF) – procedure where discs are surgically accessed from the front (on either side of the neck)
• Posterior cervical decompression and fusion – procedure where discs are surgically accessed from the back (back of head/neck)

Anterior Cervical Disc Replacement

During this procedure, one or two discs can be removed, decompressed, and replaced with a unique construct allowing motion between the vertebrae.

This procedure is similar to ACDF but instead of using bone and plates, uses a special-sized artificial disc.

Cervical Corpectomy

During this procedure, a portion of the vertebra and adjacent discs are removed for decompression of the spinal cord and spinal nerves.

A bone graft is then used to reconstruct the spine and provide stability.

Corpectomy can be performed in all areas of the spine including the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions.
